§1 Definition
Demand that arrives because of the name, not the salesperson.
Brand Equity is demand that arrives because of your name rather than your salesperson. It shows up as inbound inquiries, referrals, and customers who choose you at a higher price. A strong brand lowers the cost of every sale and survives the departure of any individual, including the founder.
A regional roofing company that is the first name homeowners think of, with a steady flow of unpaid referrals, has Brand Equity. A firm whose reputation is really the founder’s personal reputation does not, and a buyer will see that.
Use cases
Separating the company brand from the owner’s name, investing in reviews and case studies, and measuring what share of new business comes in without a sales call.
The multiple family
Qualities that raise the price a buyer will pay for each dollar of earnings. Multiple elements are where most of the value gap closes.
The multiple. What raises the multiple: clean books, predictability, management depth, a sales engine, proprietary IP, brand, and strategic fit.
Meet the family§2 Measurement
Share of new revenue from inbound or referral, unaided awareness in the target market, and pricing premium over comparable providers.
How the scale reads
§3 Matrix
Every element of the family plotted by its sample score today against its target. The dashed line is the target itself: the farther a point sits above it, the more lift the assay asks for. Below 50 on either axis is the gap a buyer will price.
§4 Position
8 elements share the family. Read them together: a buyer prices them as a group.
§5 Compounds
This element is not part of a named compound. It is priced on its own, through the family it belongs to.
§6 In the FNDRS journey
The assay scores it. The process, the pillars, and the platform move it. Table 2 lists every place this element is on the agenda.

§7 In the valuation
Measured Medium leverage
The FNDRS valuation reads this element directly. Its assay score derives from the same answers the engine scores, so the assay and the valuation can never disagree.
What FNDRS reads
Brand recognition, read in two report cards, a composite of Google and Yelp reviews, and referral potential.
The exit score is the first assay: fifteen minutes, six pillars, and a first read on the elements that matter most.
